An Open Letter to my Immune System:

When you're damn well done with a cold, would you PLEASE cease and desist in symptoms post-haste? My head has been feeling 'better' since Tuesday morning. And then I spend this morning wracking up unpleasant gooeys in lab meeting. Most disconcerting. Yes, yes, I appreciate that you've done a bang-up job, and that compared to the rest of my family, you're a paragon of rapid-response surveillance. But for once, just once, would you bloody well do what I ask?

I'll just imagine that you brought yours with you from NC, and that this is the local, far more benign variety... ;-) I'm pretty certain that I picked mine up from my coworker. Or at least, the timing was in the right neighborhood.
