1) My poster for this May's American Society of Microbiology 109th General Meeting, in Philadelphia, May 18-20. And after a little bit of sleuthing, I'll be able to attend both my poster session, as well as the immediately preceding session on Teaching Careers for Microbiologists. Oh, yeah, my poster's title: "IL-17A Contributes but is Not Required for Inflammation in a Murine Model of Helicobacter pylori-Mediated Gastritis"
Which reminds me, I really should get back to my series of posts about the work I do, so that y'all might understand just what the heck that title means. Right.
2) Of more note and interest to me, at least in what's immediately relevant to moving my career forward, I was just accepted by UM's Center for Research on Learning and Teaching for their May Preparing Future Faculty Seminar series, which is a rather intensive course (T/Th, 8:30a-1:30p, for 5 weeks) that goes over everything from writing (and revising) a statement of teaching philosophy, to understanding how to link testing with learning, all the way through to preparing for the academic teaching job interview (and negotiating salary... heh). This is the application I was all angsty about, a few weeks back. This'll go nicely on the CV.
Time to apply for the UM's grad student travel award, again. Take the bite out of travel and hotel costs (and the cost of meeting enrollment).
Hrmm... there's an overlap between 1) and 2). If I set the trip up properly, though, I can get by with only missing one day of the PFF series.
