In looking for information about next week's Michigan presidential primary, I find that the DNC chose to strip the state of all of its party delegates, as punishment for the state bumping the primary date up to next Tuesday. Turns out the RNC did something similar by cutting the MI delegate numbers in half.
So, basically, in an effort by Michigan lawmakers to insure that Michigan actually gets a voice in early presidential politics, both national parties have decided to screw the state. Thus, next week's state primary is just about useless.*
Charming.
Makes me ponder ever more strongly the merits of a single-day nation-wide primary.
*Actually, it could be a hell of a lot of fun to screw with GOP candidates... although it looks like the state now requires temporary selection of party affiliation to vote in the primary. Idjits.
ETA: Okay, so I'm obviously a little behind on news about the state election proper... (sue me, I done been busy)
