This last weekend my doppelganger and brotha from anotha motha (aka [livejournal.com profile] greenmanbear made our first forays into the world of Big Gaming Conventions. That's right, we girded our mental and social loins, grabbed the clothespins, and headed south into what is considered (for most Ann Arborites, though we really couldn't care less) Enemy Territory: Columbus, Ohio. (c.v. UM vs. OSU rivalry) We were there to attend the Origins convention, one of the grand-poobahs of gaming conventions, and we'd both signed up to run modules for the Blackmoor D&D campaign setting.

In the future, if I'm going to attend a large gaming convention like Origins, I'm only going to go if I can attend the whole thing, or close to it. Also, I'm only going to tie myself to a particular campaign or game for a single day (or four slots) in that span, so that I can go exploring all the other games and the various demos and events. That's what I enjoyed so much about the first U-Con I attended, a few years back. I got in two role-playing games, a few sets of Settlers of Catan, a round of a number of different card games, a LARP, and still had time to wander around and look in on everything else going on. I mean, if I'm going to go to a big con, why not sample everything that's available and offered?
