Whee!

I got in my first real ride of the season. Not bad, considering the fact that I've apparently lost all of my aerobic stamina over the past few years. Which doesn't surprise me, given all that happened between grad school and work and such.

~11 miles out to the boonies, where I broke into my friends' house (is it my fault that they weren't home and leave their back door unlocked? I was out of water! I did leave a note.) and rested on their sunlit back porch for a while, to stretch. Then ~11 miles back in via a more northerly route.

Discounting the two rest breaks... hrmmm... about 1:45 worth of riding, and 22 miles. Meaning an average of... 13 miles an hour, give or take. Not bad at all. Got home, took a hot bath to stretch everything out, and then puttered for a while.

I can still tell I'm a bit tight in the main thigh muscles, but that'll pass.

Whee!

And except for the odor of the ordure that the farmers are spreading on their fields, I had an absolutely lovely time in the sun.
I'm considering opening up a second LJ to use for posting my writings. Mostly fiction, and given what I predominantly read, sci-fi and fantasy in the main.

I hope to be able to use the public posting of such as a way to get feedback to help me improve my writing skills. There have been enough times in the past where I've shared my work with friends (you know who you are) and I've received the general response of "This is good" but I've never really taken it further. I would like to, at this time. I don't know that I'll ever get up the gumption to try and sell some of my stuff, but this is something that I do and I would like to improve it.

That, and this'll be a good spur to get me writing with greater frequency...

Thoughts, comments, opinions?
