This wonderful image (thanks, Davroz!) is from Saturday at this year's ConFusion (theme: Cryptic!). Given how much of a hit my various and sundry hats proved when I chaired U-Con back in 2007, I decided to bring the show to Fusion. (I was also working this con, albeit as a guest liaison and ConChair support/aide de camp)

(Yes, I've been told that at Firefly LARPs and games, I should most definitely take the part of Badger.)

In this particular image, I'd been chatting with Jane Irwin about the trials and tribulations of work and life, and I believe I was demonstrating what typing up one's thesis felt like. Jane wanted to make sure she understood just what I tried to communicate...

(Speaking of Jane, for those of you into comics, I highly recommend picking up a copy of each Vogelein book, and following her Clockwork Game webcomic. If at all possible, Jane's art and storytelling rock almost as much she does.)

I think I captured "frenzied" and "impassioned" pretty well, dontcha agree?
I'm working on putting together an interesting lecture on bacteriophages (viruses that infect bacteria) for class next Friday. Mindful there are tech/video savvy scientists and biogeeks who are also interested in teaching, I hit up Google for any visual material that might be of interest.

I busted a gut laughing at how this video fires up. In addition to a kickin' soundtrack, it has an interesting graphic demonstrating how the virus (T4 bacteriophage in this case) goes about making copies of itself...
