I'm working as a liaison again this weekend. However, instead of shepherding around a pair of knowledgeable planetary scientists at a con, I shall be tending a prospective grad student for my department.
Who's never been to a place where it's below freezing. Who's phone number and flight info indicate they're coming from very southern states. Who might originally be from somewhere in SE Asia, and has possibly never really seen snow, much less been face to face with it.
Oh, boy.
In other news, I have my next H. pylori post half-written, I simply need the time to finish it. Which is in short supply at the moment, given I've spent the last three nights making graphs, rewriting test questions, and generally being a highly industrious grad student.
I feel a little bad for my recruit, though--the snow's not of a quality for them to get to enjoy the wonders of a snowball fight. ;-)
