I've kicked everyone out of the lab until noon today, because of the INSANE FREAKING NOISE. That's right, that pass-through we were promised back in January is finally being cut through the wall between our two lab rooms.
The workmen, whom I've been buttering up one side and down the other in an effort to get them to agree to the lab's needs when I have to ask them, had promised yesterday that they'd actually get in early (6 AM!) and get the work done by about 9.
Of course, I knew they weren't going to make 6. However, apparently their GEAR was there, but there were no actual workpeople UNTIL 8.
So I kicked Slave #2 and the Valiant Jr. Slave-in-Training out of the lab until noon. And the boss agreed.
Because, you know, I just needed to sit in the lab and listen to concrete drills and masonry saws all morning, from close range, without earplugs. Just the thing to make my day.
So I'm working in the library (if you call lit searches work), actually working, in the library, for the first time in... ages. Since my *koff* ancient *koff* undergrad days. Whee!
