I'd forgotten just how bloodyinsanelyfreezing cold Chicago can be is in the winter. Don't think that the weekend saw daytime temperatures above 15 degrees, with windchill usually at 0 or less.
A good weekend, nonetheless. And that's even with the two of us walking everywhere. *laugh*
----------
I have a stunningly large quantity of alcohol in my apartment right now, given that I'm just one lad.
one half-finished bottle of Midori (Halloween leftover)
one mostly empty bottle of Blue Curacao (ditto)
one bottle of cassis (Stratford trip)
one bottle of spiced rum (holiday party eggnog necessity!)
four different bottles of Polish mead (from Chicago's best, Sam's Wine and Spirits, ah, bliss...)
one bottle of Muscat dessert wine (Sam's)
one bottle of Amontillado Reserva (ditto)
Methinks I might have to have a Mead Tasting Party sometime in January. Couldn't find any of my old fave, though (Piast).
----------
I've spent most of this week trying to recover from the cold and exertion of the Chicago trip. Every single day this week, upon waking to the alarm, I reset the alarm to half an hour later. Today, I didn't even leave for work until nearly 9. Still opened and closed the lab. Hell, I closed the whole damn floor for the second time this week.
----------
Went in to work today and felt like complete crap. Burned out, wrung out, tired of pouring so much of myself into the job and having crap-all to show for it.
So what do the Science Fairies decide to do to me? That's right, the technique which hasn't worked for 14 months suddenly gives me a jackpot result. And not only are the Fairies kind to me, but they also get
blue_lucy's difficult experiment up and working.
Damn Fairies. See if I leave out any more broth for you guys.
