Happiness is being given an unwanted and suspect stereo unit, replete with phonograph and speakers, as something of a payment for helping a dear friend and family, then finding that everything's in perfect working order, and getting to listen to albums that you've been dragging around the damn country for ten years because you can't find them on CD, and hoping to come into a working record player without paying an arm and a leg for a new one.

Sadness is being so deficient in sleep that one cannot take advantage of a few days of blessedly cool weather to go and pick strawberries, and thus begin this season's preserving mayhem, because one is catching up with a well-deserved nap. Meh, I'll get out there on Sunday before it gets hot again.
