The fireflies are out early, this year.
Odd, considering how cool it is right now. Maybe the heavy thunderstorms of last month helped in some aspect. (SE Michigan had six times as many days of bad weather last month compared to the average. 18 days of sturm und drang!)
Although I'd witnessed a solitary glowbug, late Sunday night, tonight is the first where I've seen a whole passel of them, flitting about the courtyard. And that just about made my night.
Have I mentioned that I tend to revert to being a six-year old whenever the first fireflies of the season come out? Maybe it's something to do with growing up west of the Cascades, where no such delightful Lampyridae exist.
