Hi everyone. As most of you were aware, Anne & I are expecting our first child, a girl, sometime in the next few weeks.

As it turns out, thanks to low-volume amniotic fluid and an obstreperously breech position (ah, our little troublemaker) the docs have recommended (most strongly) that for various and sundry reasons, our little girl arrive today. The kid is full-term, and certainly looks and behaves healthy on the ultrasounds.

So, we're waiting in the UM Mott/Women & Children's Hospital triage area, until we learn when Anne's Caesarian section is scheduled. Most likely this afternoon/early evening.

This isn't what we wanted for the birth of our first child, but we're not going to be any more ready, to be truthful.

Honestly, I can't wait to meet our daughter. :D

Wow!

I know [livejournal.com profile] netmouse wanted to avoid the C-section route, but considering the circumstances, I believe everyone involved came to the right decision.

My goodness, I'm so excited for you three! *does the happy dance*

(BTW, I'm rather useless when it comes to lifting heavy things & moving them about, but if I can be of any help to you in the coming weeks, please let me know. Or, rather, I'll be in touch very, very soon & then you can let me know.)

Hey, congrats. Please post pictures.

(Also, my Katie was breech and I had low amniotic fluid, so I also had the c-section. Perhaps interfering advice: Make sure they check well for hip dysplasia, since first born breech girls with low amniotic fluid have a higher incidence of the problem.)

M. had the boy by C-section--everything went swimmingly, and there was certainly value for us in knowing when everything was going to happen.

Oh, and as others have said, good luck, and congratulations!

(If I can handle parenting vaguely adequately, you ought not to have anything to worry about.)

Best of luck! As long as you're aware that you're not ready, you'll do fine. It's the times when you get confident that you know exactly what to do that you're most likely to slip up. I know when my son was born in 2001, five and a half weeks early, I was absolutely terrified.

You'll do great. Congratulations, and welcome to the wonderful world of fatherhood!
